When the cutoff level is at 3 mm, the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value of transvaginal endometrial thickness measurement for identifying endometrial abnormality are 97.7%, 62.5%, 70.5%, and 96.8%. The recommended cutoff is 3mm because of this level and below, no carcinoma is missed. Curettage is advised beyond 3mm. (Results)

Objectives

1. To determine the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value of endometrial thickness measurement by sonography as compared to the gold standard which is fractional curettage among patients with postmenopausal bleeding2. To determine the cut-off level of endometrial thickness which will discriminate between normal and abnormal endometrium.
