Objectives

The purpose of this study were the following:

1. To determine the significant difference in the means of cord blood uric acid levels in babies with or without the following conditions: Respiratory distress syndrome and sepsis neonatorium.

2. To correlate the levels of cord blood uric acid with: APGAR score, gestational age, birthweight and maternal blood uric acid level.

3. To correlate the means of cord blood uric acid levels in high risk pregnancies and low risk pregnancies.
