Sixty four patients with dermatophytoses confirmed by a positive KOH wet mount were included in the study. The patients were divided into two groups. One group was treated with tincture of garlic 10% and the other group was treated with Tolnaftate solution 10% for a period of 1 month. After two weeks of treatment, the garlic group did not show an impressive result based on clinical assessment and KOH wet mount result, however at the end of one month, the result of the garlic group was not significantly different from that seen with Tolnaftate implying that the two treatments are equally effective in treating dermatophytoses.
