The diagnostic usefulness of Diazo reaction was evaluated and corrected against Widal reaction for the diagnosis of typhoid fever. Eighty-three (83) hospitalized suspected typhoid fever patients were subjected to both Diazo and Widal reaction and 21 (25.3 ) showed a diagnostic titre to Widal reaction. There was no significant difference (p=1.028) between the ability of Diazo reaction to detect typhoid fever as compared to Widal reaction. (Author)
